CWL graces Christ the King

by Maduduza Zwane

The Catholic Women’s League in the Diocese of Manzini ascended to Christ The King Parish on May 19th, to grace the Parish by pinning (Kwamukela laba Nqonqotsako) six members at the Parish.

The Catholic Women’s League does charity work, care for the needy with love, and are very much concerned about this benevolent duty. The league has connection worldwide and links hands with people of other religions. Members are motivated to do their charity work by their theme “Thuma Mina” taken from Isiah 6:8 (Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”)

Father Pius Magagula talking to the new members of the League preached that by joining the League the members were preparing themselves for the kingdom of God. Sodalities must be characterised by love of one another and care for the needy. Being in the Catholic Women’s League they are pushing forward God’s Love and Unity among people, the priest advised. As Christians and members of the League the knew members have committed themselves to think for others if they are the fed properly; if they are sheltered; and if they are clothed. Father Pius Magagula reminded the congregants that the new members began with charity work long time before they became members of the League. This is a sign that charity work is part of their lives. These people who are new members today have provided the needy in the church with hampers, the priest emphasised. They identified the needy in the church and surrounding areas of the church and provided them with their needs. The Priest encouraged the new members to continue with the charity work they had started before they became members of the League because this is a way of reaching to Jesus.

The Chair Lady of the Parish Pastoral Council of Christ The King Parish Mrs. Thandie Zwane thanked all those who attended the event at the Parish. She advised new members and old to dedicate themselves to actively participate in the activities of the church such as to conduct lessons for those who want to receive sacraments. Congregants should always identify themselves by participating in the works of the church, he encouraged. She informed the Hlathikulu audience that the President of the League Sisana Lutya – Mondlane was born and raised in Hlathikulu. She is the grandson of the late staunch Catholic Sondundu Dlamini. The whole church got excited to hear this and started to ululate.

The President of the League Mrs. Sisana Lutya – Mondlane thanked all who attended especially the Catholic Women’s League members who came from all parishes to attend the pinning. She stated that she hoped that the League would return to Hlatikulu soon because the Priest had informed the church that about five potential members were in the pipeline from Christ the King and Sacred Heart Parish in Nhlangano. The President was very impressed with the performance of the choir which included mainly the youth.

At the end everybody was served with a bring and share lunch and refreshments prepared by the Christ The King Branch of the Catholic Women’s League in partnership with other Sodalities.
