Below is Maduduza Zwane’s speech during the couples dinner hosted by Sts Peter & Paul Parish on 15th February 2019 at St Theresa’s Hall.
I am Maduduza Gabriel Zwane, a member of the Christ The King Parish Pastoral Council, and Chairman of the St. Joseph Sodality.
Together with my wife Thandie we assist our parish in preparing potential couples for marriage in the church. The Priest and couples the we have counselled are happy with our sharing of our experiences in marriage with those who intend getting married in the church.
Preparation for marriage leads to married life, through the celebration of the sacrament, which is the culmination of the journey of preparation which the spouses have made the source and origin of their married life.
We have been married with Thandie for now 47 years and every anniversary of our marriage we go to church and pray to God for the sustenance of our marriage. On the Sunday following the anniversary we ask the Priest to bless our marriage.
We pray to God because a spouse is a gift from God and God is a partner in any marriage. In a marriage God should never be forgotten. In marriage, prayer fortifies our love for our spouse; it encourages us to collaborate with God for a dynamic and healthy marriage. Most crucial of all, prayer sustains us when marriage gets difficult.
